Huma Mobin's 'Husband-Less-Honeymoon' in GReece Photo Album goes Viral!

Theoretically this lovely lady should be smiling… but she’s not, even though she is having a great holiday in the best country in the world…

Which country is that? Greece, of course!

How can someone be in Greece and be unhappy you say? It’s simple.

If you were planning the trip as a second honeymoon and your other half didn’t get his visa approved, then you have good reason to be a bit sad as you go on your ‘Husband-less Honeymoon’ to Athens, Crete and Santorini.

That’s what happened to Huma Mobin. A creative director at BBDO in Pakistan, she didn’t let the inspiration she had go to waste.

She decided to create her own ‘Husband-less-Honeymoon-in-Greece’ album with her arm around her in absentia’ husband and share the photos with that other half, and of course, via Facebook, with the rest of the world!

Her pictures have gone viral. We loved her story so we are sharing it and the photos.

Thanks for visiting Greece, Huma and for showing the world how beautiful this country is even when your other half couldn’t make it!

We hope that you will come back soon, with your husband and take the same photos with him in it this time!

PS Please make sure you get his visa application in early next time, just in case…

PPS Maybe you should enter one or two of your photos in this year's World Tourism Day Greek Photo Competition starting in September 2016!

Think about it!

Check out the rest of Huma’s pictures on her personal FB page  or on her Outside Girl FB Page.

Dear David Cameron, Elgin STOLE them, They are NOT the Elgin Marbles

Dear British Prime Minister, David Cameron,

Let's get it straight...
Elgin STOLE them, they are NOT the Elgin Marbles.
The sculptures held captive in the British Museum are
the PARTHENON Marbles

You cannot change the past, what's done is done.

But you CAN do something about the future,
You CAN change the present.

Do what's right.
Return the PARTHENON sculptures to their rightful home,
Return the PARTHENON Sculptures to Greece.

Global Greek World

** This post is dedicated to our beloved Melina Mercouri,
who left us 19 years ago today,
 on March 6, 1994.

She never accepted this abhorrent term,
said the following:

There are no such things as the Elgin Marbles.
There is a Michael Angelo David.
There is a Da Vinci Venus.
There is a Praxitelles Hermes.
There is a Turner ‘Fishermen at Sea’.
There are no Elgin Marbles!

There are NO Elgin Marbles.

They are the PARTHENON Marbles.

Athens' New Acropolis Museum:3 Today and Still Waiting for the Parthenon Sculptures! Let's Bring them HOME!

Χρόνια Πολλά!
 Athens' New Acropolis Museum
inaugurated on 20 June 2009 turns 3 today
and is still waiting for the Parthenon Sculptures...

The magnificent marble sculptures plundered from the Parthenon by the infamous Lord Elgin and held hostage by the British Museum

Let's join every single person around the world - Greek and non-Greek alike - working to bring them home...

Last week, British Actor Stephen Fry and MP Andrew George, speaking in favour of their return, won the debate hosted by Intelligence Squared in Cambridge by a large majority.

Yesterday and today, an
International colloquy in London on the reunification of the Parthenon Marbles

was held at London's Hellenic Centre

The momentum is growing...

There is no excuse anymore

We have built the Museum...

Each missing sculpture has its own space...

Each space is a missing word in the story...

the beautiful story of the Parthenon

the temple dedicated to the Goddess Athena

The Caryatids are waiting for their long-lost sister...

Let's Bring them Home!

It is the least we can do...
we owe it to our children , the future
and to Melina, whose vision for the Parthenon Sculptures put the wheels in motion for their return!

If you ask me whether I will be alive when the Marbles return to Greece,
I tell you, yes, I will be.

When the Sculptures come home to Athens, so will I,
But even if I'm not,
I will be reborn.

τα Μάρμαρα του Παρθενωνα επιστρέψουν στην Ελλάδα,
σας λέω πως ναι, θα ζω.
Αλλά κι αν ακόμη δεν ζω πια,
 θα ξαναγεννηθώ!"

I AM GREEK AND I WANT TO GO HOME...Let's Bring them ALL Home!

I AM GREEK AND I WANNA GO HOME is an independent movement for repatriation of the Greek Sculptures lovingly created by Ares Kalogeropoulos one of our Global Greeks living in Germany. All the Photography, Concept and Artwork are the brainchild of this  exceptionally talented young diaspora Greek.

Ares'  wonderfully expressive photos with their simple but emotion packed message are doing the rounds of the internet these days, appealing to all of us around the world to help bring home the magnificent statues and sculptures plundered in days gone by and now held 'hostage' in various museums around the world. This campaign is one of many especially aimed at the British Museum, which steadfastly refuses to part with the sculptures ripped from their original home by the not-so-noble Lord Elgin...

Bravo Ares! Messages like this inspire us...to spread the word around the world!

I AM GREEK AND I WANNA GO HOME....

LET'S BRING THEM ALL HOME...  to GREECE!

Το μήνυμα " I AM GREEK AND I WANNA GO HOME " καθώς και η αισθητική ματια που συνοδεύει τις εικόνες, είναι δημιουργημένες ώστε να προκαλέσουν συναισθηματικα θεατές ανα τον κόσμο.

I AM GREEK AND I WANNA GO HOME

This phrase is a key message sent everywhere via the Internet by the Independent voluntary movement for the return of Greek antiquities illegally detained abroad. Inspirer and creator is the Composer and photographer Ares Kalogeropoulos who lives an works in Oldenburg in Northern Germany This independent movement, gained thousands of supporters on the Internet, and was started through
Ares Kalogeropoulos personal  Facebook Profile .The message "I AM GREEK AND THE WANNA GO HOME" and the aesthetic glimpse that accompanies the images have been created in order to have maximum emotional appeal both  within and outside Greece. For this reason also the message is communicated in English.

The second message accompanying this move is "Our Budget is our Love" which clearly states that simply  with our love for Greece and our common goal, this move can be channelled independently of any financing or support funding. Our love and our volunteer work for a common national goal is enough and much more powerful than any financial support!

Please support this great and pure movement that allows us to stand against our proud history as Greeks and as citizens of this world!

Simply communicate  these images, everywhere, in Greece and abroad.

So that our voices can be heard!

Let's do something that will make history look at us with its most tender look.

I personally thank all of you from my heart!

Earth Hour 2011 - In Greece the Countdown begins with the Parthenon...

The Acropolis, a symbol of western civilization, will be the world’s oldest landmark to turn off the lights for Earth Hour and join the global movement against climate change.

At 8:30PM local time the Parthenon, the centrepiece of the Acropolis, will turn black and join hundreds of millions people from around the globe to switch off the lights in the first global election on the future of our planet.

From Athens to Auckland, London, Sydney, New York and Singapore, we'll be joining the rest of the world today 26 March 2011 to switch off our lights.

It’s a reminder to us all that we only have one planet Earth. And it’s an urgent message that we want to reduce the impact our energy system has on that planet. Of course this one hour is symbolic, we should all be doing our utmost to reduce our energy consumption,  every day, every hour, every minute...

Join us!

Ready, steady, go...lights out!

What a magnificent shot from Petros Giannakouris for Associated Press...
A brilliant photo from a very talented photographer!
Thank You for sharing your view with the world, Petros!

Almighty Zeus is angry!

Like a picture taken straight out of our Mythology books, a bolt of lightning illuminates the sky around the 2,500-year-old temple dedicated to the Goddess Athena, the Parthenon, in Athens early yesterday morning....
